What it measures:

Joint Problem Solving measures the extent to which team members view problems as shared and solutions as requiring cocreation. This is a team factor that Harvard researchers Dr Kerrissey and Prof. Amy Edmondson have identified that predicts team performance in multi-disciplinary teams beyond other well-known factors such as psychological safety. These items are derived from their research (Kerrissey, Mayo and Edmondson, 2019).

  • Psychological Safety measures the perception that the team is safe for interpersonal risk-taking. This factor relating to team performance was identified by Professor Amy Edmondson at Harvard University and the items are derived from her research (Edmondson, 1999).

    Inclusion measures employee perceptions that their unique contribution to the team is appreciated and their full participation is encouraged. The items are based on the research of Professor Mor Barak of University of Southern California (Mor Barak et al., 1998). Professor Mor Barak was one of the leading researchers to identify the importance of inclusion for leveraging diversity to be a strength, rather than a barrier to team cohesion and performance.
