The S2A Instrument Part A (formerly the S4A Instrument) is a validated assessment instrument to assess parts of ACPE Standard 2 for ACPE accreditation. The elements of ACPE Standard 2 which the Instrument assesses is Standard 2.1.k Self-awareness, Standard 2.1.j Leadership, Standard 2.1.b Problem solving process and Standard 2.1.l Professionalism. The instrument assesses the skills and behaviors identified by PharmD faculty and employers of PharmD graduates that map to each of these elements.
S2A Part B (2025 ACPE Standard 2) Assessment Instrument

The S2A Instrument Part B (formerly S3A Instrument) is an assessment instrument to assesses elements of 2025 ACPE Standard 2. The elements of ACPE Standard 2 which the Instrument assesses are Standard 2.1.b Problem solving process, Standard 2.1.c Communication, Standard 2.1.f Advocacy, Standard 2.1.h Interprofessional collaboration, and Standard 2.1.d Cultural and structural humility. The instrument assesses the skills and behaviors identified by PharmD faculty and employers of PharmD graduates that map to each of these elements.

The Standard 2 S2A Part A (formerly S4A) Instrument includes four self-assessments for P1 to P4. The self-assessments are all validated. The Standard 2 S2A Part B (formerly S3A) Instrument includes two styles of assessments — assessments on the frequency of desired skills and behaviors, and situational judgement tests (SJTs).

Used by PharmD programs
S2A ACPE Standard 2 Assessments (formerly S3A Standard 3 and S4A Standard 4 Assessments)
The ACPE Standard 2 (formerly S3A and S4A) Assessment Instruments are primarily used by PharmD programs to assess their students and meet ACPE Accreditation requirements.
Most PharmD programs have the student complete the assessments (approximately 15/20 minutes each) in the Fall or in the Spring to provide comparative data year to year.
Background and Technical Details
The S2A ACPE Standard 2 (previously S3A Standard 3 and S4A Standard 4) assessments instruments were developed in collaboration with PharmD programs. Colleges and Schools of Pharmacy use the assessment instrument for their Doctor of Pharmacy programs.
The S2A Part A and Part B are reliable and valid tests of 2025 ACPE’s Standard 2. A technical report is available upon request.
